Sustainability Seminar Series | Navigating the Green Frontire: A Holistic Approach to Quantifying Sustainability Through Lifecycle Thinking

The Students for Sustainability are excited to invite you to their upcoming webinar as part of the Spring 2024 Sustainability Seminar Series given by Prof. Sami G. Al-Ghamdi, Professor of Sustainable Built Environment and Climate Change Resilient Infrastructure at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).

Abstract

This talk delves into the imperative task of quantifying sustainability in our ever-evolving landscape. Recognizing the pivotal role of life cycle assessment (LCA) and lifecycle thinking, the discussion explores how these methodologies offer a comprehensive lens for evaluating the environmental impacts of products, processes, and systems. By emphasizing the interconnectedness of life stages, we unveil the synergies between LCA and lifecycle thinking, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainability metrics. Through real-world examples and case studies, we demonstrate the efficacy of this holistic approach in driving informed decision-making and fostering responsible practices across industries. As we venture into a future where environmental consciousness is non-negotiable, this talk aims to equip participants with the insights and tools needed to navigate the green frontier and champion meaningful strides towards a more sustainable and decarbonized world.
