The Coral Research & Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP) has recently released its 3-year strategic plan laying out a roadmap to enhance coral research aimed at securing a future for coral reefs.
In a time where climate change and other environmental threats pose a risk for coral survival, the G20-launched initiative, for which KAUST serves as central node, has identified six types of research projects necessary to leverage current technologies for coral restoration: novel R&D projects, projects improving or scaling up existing restoration activities, translation R&D, scoping and planning studies, foundation science to support restoration implementation, capacity building, and local implementation models.
