In 29 January 2024, KAUST’s Office of Sustainability with the Elevate Program conducted a workshop on Sustainability and the Global Challenges of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17 – Partnership for the Goals- to deepen the Elevate trainee’s understanding of sustainability practices and the complexities of the global challenges addressed by the SDGs.
Elevate is an on-the-job training program designed by KAUST for recent Saudi university graduates to prepare them for the job market.
The four-hour workshop brought together 21 trainees from diverse backgrounds and departments across KAUST, offering a dynamic and interactive learning experience. The highlight of the session was “The World’s Future” game developed by Centre for Systems Solutions (CRS). This engaging social simulation allowed participants to immerse themselves in scenarios requiring negotiation, diplomacy, and decision-making related to the SDGs.
The workshop’s curriculum was designed to promote systems thinking, creativity, and collaboration, encouraging trainees to apply these skills to real-world sustainability challenges. By navigating through the simulated scenarios, participants developed a keen understanding of the interconnectedness of sustainability challenges, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to approach these challenges with innovative solutions.
